How do we smell? - Oo La Lab

The human sense of smell is processed in a very primitive part of our brain, called the Limbic System. So whilst it is our nose that functions as a pathway, directing olfactory molecules to smell receptors found on the olfactory bulb; it is in fact our brains that do the smelling.

The limbic system is our seat for processing mood, memory and emotion. Thus it is no coincidence that aromas are so powerful at eliciting emotions and conjuring memories
