Not about us.
We could tell you when we started.
Who founded us.
How many bottles we've made.
How many awards we've won.
But honestly?
That's not why you're here.
You're here because you smell something.
And something happens.
A memory appears.
A mood changes.
An idea arrives.
You make something that didn't exist five minutes ago.
That's Oo La.
Not About.
Oo La.
You bring the nose.
We'll bring the lab.
Oo La Lab is a fragrance design and innovation studio with labs in Singapore, Bangkok and Dubai.
We make fragrance.
But we also make experiences, experiments, spaces, rituals, brands and new ways of thinking about scent.
Our work sits somewhere between science, design and human experience.
We don't think you should have to choose between the three.
Two things are true at once.
Mechanism matters. We work with fragrance chemistry, raw materials, extraction, formulation, sensory science and the growing field of olfactory neuroscience. Our work includes:
- AllSense β multisensory experience and scent design, established in 2005.
- Oo La Lab β the fragrance laboratory founded in 2017.
- Three cities β Singapore, Bangkok and Dubai.
- Small-batch formulation β developed and blended in our own labs.
- COβ extraction β exploring what modern extraction can bring to perfumery.
- Neuroscents β investigating the relationship between fragrance, mood, cognition and emotional response.
- Spatial scent β designing fragrance as part of an environment, not an air freshener added at the end.
We care about the mechanism because how something works matters.
Then there's the other side.
- Standing over a bench covered in things you've never smelled before.
- Finding a combination that shouldn't work β and somehow does.
- Making a fragrance that exists nowhere except in your head, your formula card and your bottle.
- Walking into a space and feeling it before you understand it.
- Smelling something twenty years later and suddenly being somewhere else.
- Leaving with something you didn't buy. You made it.
We care about the experience because that's what makes the mechanism matter.
We don't think perfumery belongs behind glass.
Perfumery isn't a locked room.
You don't need a French surname.
You don't need a degree in chemistry.
You don't need to know what an aldehyde is.
You just need a nose and a little curiosity. We put the materials on the table and let people in. Smell. Mix. Make.
Scent isn't just something you wear.
It can define a place. Change the atmosphere of a room. Build a memory. Shape a brand. Trigger an association. Become part of a ritual.
We're interested in what happens when fragrance leaves the bottle and starts interacting with people, places and behaviour.
The nose is connected to far more than the nose.
We're exploring what happens at the intersection of fragrance, neuroscience, emotion, memory and sensory perception. Our Neuroscents work is part of that exploration.
Not wellness theatre. Not pseudoscience dressed in a lab coat. A field worth investigating β and where the evidence ends, we'll say so.
Fine.
There is one.
Dan Terry started AllSense in 2005 and Oo La Lab in 2017, following a career across experience design, fragrance and emotional branding.
He's spent more than two decades asking essentially the same question: how do we make people feel something?
He'd much rather you spend your time making something in the lab than looking at his photograph. So we'll leave it here. Back to you.
The space between the senses.
Fragrance is only one output. The bigger question is what happens when scent starts talking to everything else.
That's where our work gets interesting. And it's why Oo La Lab isn't just a perfume company.
Want to build something around this?
We work with brands, architects, designers, educators, hospitality groups, cultural organisations and curious people who want to explore the sensory world differently.
Speaking
Keynotes, panels and provocations on scent, memory, sensory branding, human experience and the future of fragrance.
Bring us a room. We'll bring something worth talking about.
Training & education
From beauty teams and brand ambassadors to designers, students and curious beginners.
Raw-material nosing. Olfactive literacy. Fragrance creation. Sensory thinking. We teach people to smell differently.
Sensorial architecture
Spaces don't just have a visual identity. They have an atmosphere.
We design scent as part of hospitality, retail, cultural and experiential environments β considered alongside the architecture rather than sprayed on afterwards.
Sensory wellness
What happens when scent, sound and light are designed together? We're exploring it.
For retreats, hospitality, wellness environments and experiences designed around how people actually feel.
Neuroscents R&D
Fragrance at the intersection of chemistry, perception, neuroscience and emotional response.
We're researching what scent can do β and being clear about what we know, what we're testing and what remains unknown.
Scent anthropology
A smell doesn't mean the same thing everywhere. Culture, geography, memory and ritual change the way we experience scent.
We explore those differences to create more meaningful fragrances, places and experiences across Asia and beyond.
So.
What do you want to feel?
Come into the lab.
Bring us a space.
Bring us a brand.
Bring us a question.
Or just bring your nose.
